Hello! I’m Sheila, a traditional signwriter and gilder and I am celebrating my 13th year in business this year. I create beautiful hand painted, hand gilded signs either on site on your window or facia or in my traditional workshop in Cornwall. I create hand painted and gilded shop windows, houses, boats, for films, pubs… in fact I can paint for you on any surface, even stone or pebbledash, unlike modern plastic vinyl signage.
I am a Masters qualified graphic designer as well, so I can originate designs for you using InDesign and I am equally happy to use your designs and logotypes to create a traditional interpretation of your brand identity, colour matched and exactly as you want it.
Unlike modern vinyl signage, my work uses a tiny amount of material, contains no plastic and is by far the most sustainable, lowest carbon and most ethical choice. I find this is a positive talking point for my customers and adds significant value to their businesses while reducing the impact of plastic in the environment.
Sign writing has been in existence as long as there has been writing and there is a vast tradition that sits behind my work. You can see hundreds of examples of my work on Instagram.
